Bidwin Molundim, 27, is a native of Sabah. He had keen of interest in sewing and designing clothing since young that lead him to pursue his dream in the fashion field. He completed schooling at SMK Kota Marudu, Sabah and sign up for a Design Technology Programme (Textile and Fashion Design) at Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS). He graduated with outstanding academic achievement in 2015, having been on the Dean’s List Award 4 times and selected by the Faculty Panel for PETRONAS- P. Ramlee Chair Award which is the Faculty’s excellent student award, representing Design Technology Programme from UNIMAS in that same year.
Bidwin’s various talents include textile design, fashion design, Computer Aided Design (CAD) for textile and fashion, garment construction and tailoring. He has keen interest in Rungus hand-woven textile called Mangavol. Rungus are an ethnic group in Borneo, residing primarily in Northern Sabah in the area surrounding Kudat. They have a distinctive language, dress, architecture and customs, and he wanted to produce clothing inspired by that particular textile design. He produces the design by exploring various textile techniques for his collection.
In 2016, he decided to establish a small business focused on culture-inspired Ready-to-Wear (RTW) fashion and provide Made-to-Measure (MTM) tailoring services in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. Bidwin’s was one of the Participating Fashion Designers for Borneo Fashion Week 2018 and Borneo Fashion Week 2019.
